Romania’s Central Electoral Bureau Confirms Final List of Presidential Candidates

The Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) has officially confirmed the final list of candidates for Romania’s presidential elections, scheduled to take place in May. Following the verification process, the following candidates remain in the electoral race:

  • Nicușor-Daniel Dan – Independent candidate
  • George Crin Laurențiu Antonescu – Backed by the Electoral Alliance “Romania Înainte”
  • Victor Viorel Ponta – Independent candidate
  • Elena Valerica Lasconi – Representing the Save Romania Union (USR)
  • Cristian Vasile Terheș – Nominated by the Romanian National Conservative Party
  • Marcela Lavinia Șandru – Supported by the Humanist Social Liberal Party
  • George Nicolae Simion – Backed by the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR)
  • John-Ion Banu-Muscel – Independent candidate
  • Silviu Predoiu – Nominated by the National Action League Party
  • Petru Daniel Funeriu – Independent candidate
  • Sebastian Constantin Popescu – Representing the New Romania Party

During the same session, the BEC also acknowledged the withdrawal of Anamaria Gavrilă from the race.
