Romanian authorities have declared the Russian Federation’s military, air, and naval attache in Bucharest, along with his deputy, as persona non grata on Romanian territory. The decision was made due to activities that contravene the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced on Wednesday.
According to the MAE, these details were formally communicated to the Russian side on Wednesday. The announcement followed the summoning of the Russian Embassy’s ChargĂ© d’Affaires ad interim to the MAE headquarters at the instruction of Minister Emil Hurezeanu.
This move reflects ongoing tensions between Romania and Russia, particularly in the context of regional security concerns and diplomatic relations within the European framework.
